Buck the Muck
— together

The Sunset Campus field is where our kids play, learn, and grow. Together, the BCS Foundation and our community are turning seasonal mud into year-round turf — one square foot at a time. - Let's work together to fund and install TURF!

Why we're doing this

Decades of mud.
Time to buck it.

Most of the school year, the Sunset Campus field is a muddy mess. Kids slide through it, track it into classrooms, and teachers spend time wiping it up. When it finally dries it out, the mud gives way to hard, cracked clay. For years we've tried to establish grass, but the volume of kids and daily traffic make it impossible to sustain. Turf is the only way to create a surface that is playable, beautiful, and built to last.

When the field is unusable, the whole school feels it: recess shrinks, the gym gets overbooked, and summer programming runs out of space.

The field today
  • Recess rain or shine — no more boots-only days.
  • Frees up the gym for PE and indoor classes.
  • Opens the schedule for richer after-school, community and summer programs.
  • Cleaner classrooms — less mud tracked inside.

WHY DO THIS NOW?

This topic has come up at many Association meetings, especially this past year we noticed the parent frustration around this muddy or bare field.

We hear you!

This project is possible this summer because God has provided and allowed us to secure discounted materials, support from the city, and partnership with generous key contractors. It's a tight schedule and we need your help.

Now is the time!

The Foundation has done their part in removing obstacles, lining up the work and more. Doing this next year would cost hundreds of thousands of dollars more... Now it's our turn. Every square foot moves us closer to opening day — September 1, 2026 — and a safe, year-round place for our kids and BCS community to play.
